Kuwait’s huge projects market is starting to move.

Kuwait is one of the world’s biggest oil producers and is the region’s fifth biggest projects market. But for many years, progress on its project spending has been frustrated by political disputes between government and parliament. This year, things have changed.

In February, Kuwait’s parliament approved the government’s proposed $116bn, five-year plan spending programme giving the green light to the region’s third biggest pipeline of planned projects after Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

This was followed in mid-July by the approval of a budget increase to the proposed $13.4bn Al-Zour New Refinery Project.
