Project involves re-building facility in Kuwait City

Kuwait’s Public Authority for Youth & Sport (PAYS) has received bids from architects for the project to re-design a disabled sports facility in Kuwait City.

The authority received bids from design firms on 26 March. The new facility will contain a number of different facilities, and the building may be as high as 20 storeys tall, according to sources close to the project. The facility will include a running track, gymnasiums and an ice rink.

The disabled sports facility is one of a number of sports projects planned in Kuwait. In November, PAYS invited contractors to submit bids for the contract to build the Al-Yarmouk Sports Club stadium.

Kuwait University is also planning to build a stadium at its new Sabah al-Salem Campus. The proposed stadium will be located at the new campus, which will be located at Shadadiyah, 20 kilometres west of Kuwait City. Contractors were initially invited to prequalify for the main construction tender for the stadium in late 2011, but tenders for the project have still not been issued.
