Kuwait retenders Shuaiba connection contract

03 February 2009
Kuwait’s Electricity & Water Ministry has retendered the contract to link gas turbines at the Shuaiba North power plant with the national control centre at Jabiriya.

The national control centre monitors the country's electricity network.

The Central Tenders Committee did not give a reason for the retender.

Bids under the original tender were due on 30 December. The deadline for bids is now 22 March.

A pre-bid meeting will be held on 15 February.

A total of six companies were prequalified for the project. They include Germany’s Siemens, France’s Areva and Switzerland-based ABB. Three Japanese companies - Mitsubishi Corporation, Toshiba Corporation and Hitachi Zosen Corporation - were also prequalified.
