Kuwait-based Mechanical Engineering and Contracting Company (MECC) has been awarded an $71m engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to overhaul the gas and condensate network in East Kuwait, according to industry sources.
Its scope includes the installation, replacement, and rerouting of gas and condensate lines in East Kuwait.
MECC will also be required to install pigging facilities and fire and gas (F&G) detection systems at manifolds.
The company will also be required to replace pipelines.
The project is expected to be completed in November 2020.
A total of 26 contractors had bid for the project.
The contract was awarded by state-owned upstream operator Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).
KOC completed the front end engineering design (feed) work for the project in-house.
