Local company will complete work at Jebel Ali free zone in Dubai

Lamprell, based in the UAE, has won construction contracts worth a total of $52m for oil rig components for three major international companies.

All of the rig parts will be built at the company’s fabrication facilities at the Jebel Ali free zone in Dubai.

The first contract, which covers pipe racks and connecting parts, was awarded by Italy’s Saipem and is worth $18.1m. Lamprell has already started work on the project and has set November 2010 as the completion date.

The second deal, a $20.4m contract for three oil rig legs, was ordered by the US’ Noble International. The contract is due to be completed in July 2010.

The third deal, worth $13.4m, will see the company refurbish and upgrade another rig for Australia’s Transocean Investments. The company will start work on the project by the end of September 2009 and hopes to complete it by the end of 2009.
