Indian engineering firm to extend electrical networks in Dhahira region
Indian engineering firm Larsen & Toubro has won a OR31.5m ($81.8m) contract from the Oman Electricity Transmission Company to upgrade electrical networks in the sultanate.
The company beat off competition from five other contractors to win the contract to extend and upgrade electrical transformers and associated components in the northwestern Dhahira region of Oman.
Larsen & Toubro’s bid of OR30.5m was 3.1 per cent lower than the OR32.5m price submitted by the second lowest bidder, the local Bahwan Engineering Company.
“Larsen and Toubro will upgrade and expand the power distribution network in Ibri and Dhank to cater for the growing electrical demand in those towns,” said an official from the Oman tender board.
