Lebanon invites consultants for water project

28 September 2011

Expressions of interest due by 20 October

Lebanon’s Energy & Water Ministry has invited expressions of interest from consultants to oversee construction of the Greater Beirut water supply project.

The chosen consultant will advise on the tunnel and pipeline project. About six prequalified engineering consultants will be shortlisted to bid for the contract.

The project includes a 24 kilometre tunnel with a 2.8 metre diameter and a 9.5km twin 140 centimetre pipeline. The water supply project is to be completed within three years.

The Government of Lebanon had applied for a loan from the World Bank toward the cost of implementing the project. Should this be secured, part of the proceeds will be applied to the consultancy contract.

Expressions of interest for the consultancy contract are to be submitted by 20 October.
