Lebanon invites interest in wind farm projects

Developers are being sought to develop four wind farms with a total capacity of up to 400MW

Lebanon’s Ministry of Energy & Water (MEW) has invited companies to submit expressions of interest (EOI) for a programme to develop up to four wind farms at various locations.

The client is planning for the selected firms to develop 200-400MW at four wind farms. For each project, the minimum capacity requirement is 50MW and the maximum capacity will be set at 100MW.

In each project, the minimum power capacity of one given wind farm is 50MW and the maximum power capacity is 100MW.

The submission date for EOIs is 12 April. Following the expressions of interest, the client will invite firms to respond to a request for proposals (RFP). The selected companies will develop land, design, finance, build, own and operate the wind farm.

The wind farms will provide electricity for the Electricite du Liban (EDL) grid. The selected developer will provide electricity for a period of 20 years under a power purchase agreement (PPA). MEW or EDL do not intend to purchase the assets from the selected developers.
