Legoland comes to Dubai

08 May 2008
Dubai-based real estate developer Tatweer has formed a strategic alliance with UK-based theme park operator Merlin Entertainments Group to build Legoland Parks in the Middle East.

Legoland Dubailand, a AED912m ($249m) theme park, will be the first attraction to feature the global brand of building bricks.

The park will occupy an area of 278,000 square metres and will feature more than 40 rides, shows and attractions.

Tatweer is working with other entertainment brands at Dubailand including Universal Studios, DreamWorks Animation, Six Flags, Marvel and HIT Entertainment.

Tatweer and Merlin also plan to develop new concepts, including Legoland-themed hotels and possibly other attractions from Merlin Entertainments’ extensive portfolio.

The company operates attractions such as Madame Tussauds, the London Eye, Alton Towers, Chessington World of Adventures, and Thorpe Park.
