Ali Al Dabbagh, spokesman for the Iraqi government has announced that Leighton Offshore Private has been awarded a contract to build a $733m new oil export terminal in the southern city of Basra, Dow Jones has reported. When the new floating 1.8 million barrels a day terminal is completed it will bring Iraq’s oil exports capacity from southern terminals on the Gulf to 3 million barrels a day. The terminal is planned to be completed in 15 months from the start of work.
