LG will operate and maintain the proposed 116,000 barel-a-day refinery in Oman
OmanSohar Refinery Companyhas nominated LG Engineering & Constructionof South Korea as the preferred bidder for the contract to operate and maintain its proposed 116,000-barrel-a-day refinery in Sohar. LG was selected following the disqualification of the previous preferred bidder, SK Engineering, also of South Korea.
Foster Wheelerof the US and Japan’s JGC Corporationwith KBCof the UK are the other bidders. The duration of the contract is for seven years. JGC is carrying out the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) package for the refinery which is scheduled to enter production in 2006 (MEED 22:1:03).
