Libya tenders Sirte basin seismic work

18 June 2008
Sirte Oil Company (SOC), a subsidiary of Libya’s state-run National Oil Corporation (NOC), has invited bids from contractors to carry out a 3D seismic survey for a new 800 square kilometre area of acreage in the Sirte Basin.

Specialised companies have been asked to submit bids by 20 July for the $10m project, which is located in the Sirte Basin near the Wadiat formation.

The company also operates the major Raguba field in the central part of the Sirte Basin along with two other gas fields, Attahadi and Assumud.

SOC, along with the UK/Dutch Shell Group, is expected to issue tenders shortly to redevelop the country’s only liquefied natural gas plant at Marsa El-Brega.

The estimated $300m rejuvenation project will extend the lifespan of the 25,000-barrel-a-day (b/d) facility for at least a further 25 years (MEED 26:11:07).
