Contract includes installation of transmission lines in Mecca North
Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has selected the local Middle East Engineering & Development Company to install 380kV overhead transmission lines in the kingdom’s Western region.
The contract, which is worth SR276.9m ($73.8m), covers the installation of overhead transmission lines in the north of Mecca.
Middle East Engineering & Development Company was selected on 4 September and is to complete work on the project by February 2013.
Mecca province already has a series of large power plants in operation including the Rabigh and Shuaibah power plants, which are both being expanded.
The addition of new capacity means the transmission and distribution infrastructure must be improved, especially around the the main population centre of Mecca itself.
