Project supplies power and air conditioning to the eastern Hajj terminal

The local Vision Electro Mechanical Company has completed a utilities station for the eastern Hajj terminal at King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah.

Completed in eight months, the project involved installing refrigeration units and transformers that provide electric power and air conditioning units for the 100,000 square-metre terminal.

The refrigeration units consist of six centrifugal units, refrigeration towers and all related connections and pumps.

The transformers produce nearly 41,000 kilovolt-amperes (kVA), and are supported by five back-up generators that have a total capacity of 12,500 kVA.

Vision, a subsidiary of Construction Products Holding Company (CPC), worked on the project as a subcontractor for the main contractor, the local Saudi Binladin Group (SBG).

SBG with France’s Aeroports de Paris won the $250m Hajj terminal upgrade contract in 2007.

The client on the scheme is the General Aviation Civil Authority (MEED 05:01:07).
