Local contractor is frontrunner to win Oman road contract

Transport ministry received bids from 10 contractors for $5.7m road deal

The local Saih al-Suwaiq group is the frontrunner to win a contract to design and build link roads at Muqniyat and Miskin in the northwestern Adh-Dhahirah region of Oman after submitting the lowest price in a competitive bid round.

Oman’s Transport and Communications Ministry received bids for the deal on 22 March, bid documents seen by MEED show.

Saih al-Suwaiq submitted the lowest price of OR2.2m ($5.7m) for the deal. This is 12 per cent lower than the price of OR2.50m submitted by the second lowest bidder, the local Asas Civil Contracting group. Desert Line Projects, also local, submitted the third lowest bid of OR2.52m.

The other bidders included the Al-Nahdha al-Omaniah Company, Khalid Bin Ahmed & Sons, Sarooj Construction Company, all local, and the local/Austrian Strabag.
