Nesma Electric to install 110kV substation
The Jeddah Islamic Sea Port Authority has awarded the local Nesma Electric a contract to build a 110kV power substation.
The substation will be located near the sea port authoritys headquarters. The unit is planned to reduce the likelihood of a large-scale power outage at the port.
This is the second substation deal that Nesma Electric has been awarded in recent months. In August, the firm was awarded a contract to build a new substation at the Jeddah Gate development.
Nesma Electric was awarded the contract to build the 100kV substation by the UAEs Emaar Middle East, the client for the real estate scheme. The facility will be located near Jeddah airport, which is currently being expanded.
The deal is the latest of a number of transmission and distribution contracts that have been awarded recently, as the kingdom upgrades its electricity infrastructure to cope with increasing demand.
