The project will be built on an area of 45,000 square metres

Egyptian real estate firm Madaar Development is planning an $80m mixed-use scheme west of Cairo, according to a company statement.

The company is looking to develop the project in Sheikh Zayed City, which lies within the Sixth of October City, a western suburb of Cairo.

The project will be built on an area of 45,000 square metres, with the project designs yet to be finalised.

The project will include hotel and residential units as well as a shopping mall.

Earlier this month, MEED reported that an airport was also completed in Cairo. A consortium of the local Orascom Construction and state-owned Arab Contractors completed the West Cairo Airport, which will also be called the Sphinx Airport. The project was a conversion of a military base developed by the Ministry of Defense.

Google maps images show the airport has one runway with local sources saying that the complex will serve small and chartered flights. The airport is in the western area of Cairo near the Sixth of October city area.
