The local Alec Energy has been appointed to develop a 6.5MW captive solar plant for the Dubai Hills Mall project, which is currently under construction.
Alec will design and build the plant, which will be commissioned in time for the mall opening. The solar project will mean a saving of 4,620,000kg of CO2 (carbon dioxide) every year.
Dubai is planning for 25 per cent of its energy to come from solar energy sources by 2030.
