Ten companies submit bids for infrastructure works in Wafra in Kuwait

Kuwait’s Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has received 10 bids for a contract to perform infrastructure works at an affordable housing project.

The project entails expanding existing facilities in the city of Wafra, located in the Southern Ahmadi governorate. The infrastructure package includes construction and maintenance of roads, car parking, infrastructure services networks, plot demarcation and sub-transformer stations.

The deadline for the bids, which were opened on 24 December, had been extended several times. Local HOT Engineering & Construction Company submitted the low bid of $100.9m, followed by local Kuwait Arab Contractors Company ($104.6m), and local Combined Group Contracting Company ($105.7m).

On 26 November, the PAHW opened bids for a contract for the construction of public buildings at the housing scheme. Local KMC Holding submitted the lowest bid of $74.7m, followed by local Combined Group Contracting Company ($75.1m), and local Bayan National Trading Company ($76.8m).

In July, the PAHW awarded a $127m contract to the local Combined Group Contracting Company for the construction and maintenance of public buildings at area E of the Sabah al-Ahmed residential town project for the PAHW. The buildings will include a mosque, police station, library and schools.

In June, the local Al-Najjar & Rashid General Trading and Contracting won a two-year deal worth KD6.45m ($22.5m) to build three primary schools in area D of the Sabah al-Ahmed residential town scheme.

The PAHW projects are part of Kuwait’s efforts to provide housing for the country’s rapidly growing population, which is expected to increase by 63 per cent over the next 20 years, rising to 5.4 million people in 2030, from the current 3.4 million.
