Deals are latest in a string of contracts won by Oman-based contractors and suppliers

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has awarded three contracts for equipment supply and service to two Omani companies, the latest in a string of oil and gas project deals signed with local groups.

PDO, Oman’s largest oil and gas producer, signed three contracts for a total of $35m for the supply and servicing of compressors.

Bin Salim Enterprises was awarded two contracts for the supply of instrument air compressor packages and the maintenance and repair of installed units.

Meanwhile, PipeLine Supply Company won a service contract for an existing compressor fleet.

The deals both allow the contractors to manufacture equipment locally in line with PDO’s In-Country Value programme, the oil producer’s Managing Director Raoul Restucci said.

According to PDO, about 38 per cent of overall contracts are now awarded to local businesses and as much as 53 per cent of well engineering contractors are awarded to registered Local Community Contractors.

Earlier in May, local contractors picked up $770m of contracts for work on projects at PDO’s onshore oil fields.
