Locals favourite for terminal job

Seven companies have submitted bids for the contract to build and equip a third terminal building at Mohammed V airport near Casablanca. Office National des Aeroports (ONDA) originally prequalified 12 groups for the estimated MD 620 million ($70 million) contract (MEED 10:9:04).
Seven companies have submitted bids for the contract to build and equip a third terminal building at Mohammed V airport near Casablanca. Office National des Aeroports (ONDA) originally prequalified 12 groups for the estimated MD 620 million ($70 million) contract (MEED 10:9:04).

The local Societe Generale des Travaux de Maroc (SGTD)was the low bidder at $54 million and is understood to be the client's preferred choice. SGTD has previously completed work on terminal projects at Casablanca.

Among the companies originally prequalified were: France's Vinci; Saudi Binladin Group; France's Bouygues, with local subsidiary Bymaroand Cegelec, also of France; Belgium's Besix, with the local Somagecand Siemens of Germany; Tepe Akfen Venturesof Turkey; and Canada's SNC Lavalin.
