Agreement will support modernisation of the airport
Germany’s Lufthansa Consulting has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Iraqi government to support the modernisation of Mosul International airport.
The agreement was signed during an Iraqi-German business forum in Berlin in early September. The German management consultancy will work with the airport to develop its growth strategy, attract new airlines and expand airport-related businesses, such as catering and aircraft maintenance.
Lufthansa will also be working on the proposed privatisation of ground services at the Iraqi airports.
Iraq’s ministry of transport requested the German firm to manage the tender process to find a suitable partner experienced in ground-handling.
The German management consultancy has previously worked on projects at Iraq’s major airports in Baghdad and Basra over the past two years.
