Aircraft was landing at Mashhad airport when accident happened

A plane with Iranian carrier Mahan Air burst a tyre when landing at Mashhad airport, injuring 11 people.

The 4 September flight from Tehran was carrying 230 passengers. Of the 11 injured, three people were badly hurt and taken to hospital.

“Eight people received treatment at the scene and three others were taken to hospital,” says the head of the provincial medical emergency centre.

Iran’s aviation industry has a bad track record when it comes to accidents due to the international sanctions that prevent the country from buying new parts and other equipment essential for aircraft maintenance.
