Majid al-Futtaim issues tenders for Fujairah mall

Submission date for bids is 27 June

UAE-based Majid al-Futtaim (MAF) has invited groups to submit bids for a contract to build its estimated AED250m ($68m) City Centre shopping mall in Fujairah.

Prequalified contractors have until the 27 June to submit bids.

The contract is for the construction of a single level mall with a total built up area of approximately 46,970 square metres. The mall will include about 100 shops, food courts and restaurants. The development will also include car parking for about a 1,000 vehicles.

The prequalified contractors include:

  • The local Al-Naboodah Contracting
  • The local Al-Ahmadiah Contracting & Trading
  • The local Alec
  • The local Arabtec Construction
  • The local/UK Al-Futtaim Carillion
  • The local/UK Dutco Balfour Beatty
  • The local Khansaheb Civil Engineering

In March, MAF said that it plans to expand operations and open 10 new malls in the Middle East and North Africa over the next 10 years.

In December last year, MAF awarded a contract to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Saad General Contracting Company to build a $40m City Centre mall on the outskirts of Beirut. The mall, which will be located on the Damascus road, will have a built up area of 125,000 square metres.

Germany’s Bauer is the piling contractor. The consultant is the Lebanese Samir Khairallah & Partners. UK-based Davis Langdon is the quantity surveyor.
