Local developer Majid al-Futtaim has announced the launch of its AED14bn ($3.8bn) Tilal al-Ghaf development in Dubai.
The development will be built on 3 square kilometres of land at the intersection of Hessa Street and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan al-Nahyan Street near Dubai Sports City.
The 10-year project will be delivered in phases and will include more than 6,500 freehold homes when complete in 2027. The properties will range from apartments, townhouses and bungalows, through to substantial luxury villas.
The centrepiece of the landscaping will be Lagoon al-Ghaf, a 70,000 square metre swimmable lagoon complete with 400 metres of beachfront and 1.5km of waterfront walkways, enabling a wide range of water sports. There will also be retail space, a clinic, a school for 2,000 students, and three nurseries.
Majid al-Futtaim said last year that it was planning to launch a major new development in the Dubailand area during the first half of this year.
