Majid al-Futtaim to develop precincts at Qatar Entertainment City

09 April 2008
Abu Dhabi Investment House (ADIH) and the Dubai-based Majid al-Futtaim Group have signed an agreement to develop entertainment precincts worth $1.5bn on the outskirts of Doha.

The memorandum of understanding consists of two separate agreements for schemes at Qatar Entertainment City, a mixed-use development being planned by ADIH at Lusail.

The first precinct covers an area of 140,000 square meters and will have about 100,000 sq m of retail space. It also has a 50,000 sq m entertainment zone, two hotels and commercial office space.

The second precinct will consist of residential units, boutique hotels, retail space and restaurants.

Both phases are expected to open in four years.

Qatar Entertainment City will feature a snow dome, a multi-purpose arena and 4,500 residential units. Canada’s Forrec is the design consultant (MEED 13:7:08).
