The government of Ajman has signed an agreement with Malaysia’s MMC Utilities, a subsidiary of MMC Corporation, for the development of a power plant in the emirate.
The new coal-fired plant will have a capacity of up to 1,000MW.
MMC will develop, finance, procure, construct, own, operate and maintain the plant. It will be built on a build-own-transfer basis.
Under the agreement, MMC Utilities will carry out technical and economic feasibility studies within six months. Depending on the outcome, MMC could then establish a project company that will manage and operate the plant under a 20-year concession.
