Mammut takes Meydan business park

10 August 2008
The local Mammut Building Systems has been awarded the estimated AED1.5bn ($408m) contract to build the business park at the Meydan development at Nad al-Sheba in Dubai.

The project involves the construction of 18 office buildings of between four and 13 floors, on top of a common single-floor podium. The total built-up area is about 350,000 square metres. The contract duration is 14 months.

The contract is the latest to be awarded at Meydan. In February, the local Dubai Contracting Company (DCC) was awarded the contract to build a 26-floor mixed use tower.

The joint venture of local Arabtec Construction and Malaysia's WCT was awarded the estimated AED4.6bn ($1.3bn) contract to build the 60,000-capacity race-course grandstand in 2007.

The grandstand is the main attraction of the Meydan City development, which will cover 7.5 million square metres and will include a 4-kilometre-long canal that will run from Dubai Creek to the racecourse. The facilities will include a marina, shopping mall, museum and golf course. The consultant is Malaysia's Teo A Khing Design Consultants (MEED 10:2:08).
