Indian steel company to supply Gulf state with 170,000 tonnes of pipes

MAN Industries (India) Limited has said that it has been awarded an order worth $209m from Kuwait that will see the company supply 170,000 tonnes of large diameter steel pipes to the Gulf state.

In a statement the Indian manufacturer said that the order was won against bids from other international steel companies.

“We are confident that the company will be able to execute the order on schedule,” J. C. Mansukhani, vice chairman and managing director of MAN Industries said.

The pipes being supplied are a selection of HSAW (Helically Submerged Arc Welded) and LSAW (Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded). Both types of pipes are used by the oil and gas industry, but the HSAW variety is recognised as being of a higher quality.

MAN industries also said that they are currently bidding for orders worth a total of $1bn.
