Manazel awards Abu Dhabi office package to Fibrex

03 November 2008
The local Manazel Real Estate has awarded the local Fibrex an estimated AED3.7bn ($1bn) contract to design and build the office buildings at Building Material City in Abu Dhabi.

The works involve the construction of 17 buildings, which will be 20-floors high.

They will have a built-up area of 440,000 square metres, along with a four-level podium with a built-up area of 240,000 sq m.

The other bidders were Dhabi Contracting, Al-Faraa Group and United Engineering Construction (Unec), all local.

The package is the latest to be developed at Building Material City.

The local/French joint venture of Fibrex and Thinet Emirates was recently given notice to proceed on the infrastructure and roads construction package.

The same joint venture is already working on the first phase of the building works that involves the construction of a mall covering 100,000 sq m and two office towers.

CRSS International, part of the US' Jacobs Group, is the project manager (MEED 7:8:08).
