German firm providing technical advisory services for Noor 1 solar development
Abu Dhabis sustainable developer Masdar has awarded German consultancy firm Intec the technical advisory contract for its proposed Noor 1 solar project.
Intec began work on the project in November 2014.
Their scope of work involves preparation of tender documents, assistance in bid evaluation and technical support during contract negotiation and EPC contract preparation.
The 100MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project was originally tendered in 2011, but never awarded.
Masdar revived the project in 2014 as significant falls in the price of solar (PV) generation allowed lower prices. The new tender dropped the requirement to use 50 per cent solar panels of Masdars own manufacture.
More than 40 companies submitted expressions of interest (EOI).
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) selected Saudi developer Acwa Power as preferred bidder for its Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum solar park (phase 2) 200MW solar PV project in January 2015. The approved bid of 5.85 cents a kilowatt hour (kWh) is the lowest tariff price for a large-scale PV solar plant in the world.
