Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) has signed a joint venture agreement with Germany's Eon, giving it a share in the London Array offshore wind farm.
Eon owns half of the Array project. The other half is owned by Denmark’s Dong Energy.
Under the deal, Masdar has bought 40 per cent of Eon’s share of the project, giving it a 20 per cent stake in the project overall.
When completed, the wind farm will have capacity of 1,000MW, making it the largest offshore wind scheme in the world.
It will use up to 271 wind turbines, with the first 175 due to being operating in 2012.
