Masdar prequalifiers due in April

27 March 2008

Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) says it is planning to release the list of companies prequalified for its first solar power plant project in mid-April.

Masdar was initially understood to be planning to announce the list by 20 March.

Several companies including Germany's Siemens, the US' GE Energy, Cobra, Abengoa and Sener all of Spain, and France's Tenesol, were expected to submit prequalification documents.

The 100MW concentrated solar/thermal power plant will be developed on a 25-year build-own-operate-transfer basis. It will be located at Madinat Zayed in the west of Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Company will buy the power produced from the plant, which is the world’s largest concentrated solar power plant. It is due to come online in 2012 (MEED 18:3:08).
