GE will maintain three plants in Iraqi Kurdistan for 12 years

Jordanian developer Mass Global has signed a long-term service agreement with the US’ GE for its power plants in Iraqi Kurdistan.

The contract covers parts replacement and repair of 18 gas turbines that were previously installed by GE at Irbil, Sulaimaniyah and Dohuk. The contract will run for 12 years.

The agreement will also support the building of local technical expertise with a tailored training programme for more than 30 Mass Global engineers.

Mass Global first used turbines from GE in 2006. All three projects are due to be fully operational by the end of 2011. In total, the plants will have a capacity of 2,250MW.
