The US' MCI has been awarded a contract to build a small GSM network in Baghdad. 'We are on schedule for implementation in June,' said an MCI spokesperson, who added that the company had been waiting to ship equipment to Iraq but that the first delivery was not completed until last week. The value of the contract has not been disclosed. MCI is a division of WorldCom, which filed for bankruptcy protection last year after the disclosure of an accounting scandal.
