Abu Dhabi-based MCM Group has won a AED800m ($217m) contract to build the Sheikh Khalifa specialist hospital in the emirate of Ras al-Khaimah.
The contract involves the construction of a 248-bed six-floor hospital with a trauma centre, as well as general wards and departments for oncology and cardiology.
The total built-up area is about 65,000 square metres (MEED 6:3:09).
The bids include a provisional sum of about AED120m for specialist medical equipment.
MCM was the low bidder when bidding closed in March.
The other bidders were the local United Engineering Construction; Ali Moosa & Sons; Modern Building & Contracting Company; Robust Contracting Company, all local; and the local Al-Ahmadiah and Greece’s Aktor.
US-based Perkins Eastman is the architect. The client is the Public Works Ministry.
