Biography: Medhat Amer has been chief information officer (CIO) at Saudi mobile operator Mobily since 2009. He is responsible for providing business and operations solutions and support systems to grow Mobily’s customer base. Amer has 20 years’ experience in the IT sector.

He became managing director of the Netherlands-based Scala Business Solutions’ Middle East and North Africa operations in 1999. Amer joined US-based Microsoft’s Saudi division as enterprise and partner group director in 2000.

He later joined Zain Jordan in 2004 as CIO. In 2008, Amer became general manager for Wimax operator Mada Jordan. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Jordan in 1991. Amer has also completed leadership programmes at the London School of Economics in the UK and Harvard University in the US.
