The Palestinian Energy Authority is expected to issue a tender at the end of 2005 for a $4.5 million project to install prepaid and automatic electricity meters in the West Bank and Gaza. Consultants from Norway and South Africa are conducting technical studies for the project and is part of phase 4 of the $16 million assistance to the energy sector in the Palestinian territories project funded by Norway and Sweden. The project aims to increase revenue collection in line with new metering regulations.
