More contracts awarded for Dubai Autodrome

The local/UK Al-Futtaim Carillion has been awarded two contracts worth a total of about AED 140 million ($38 million) covering infrastructure works on the first phase of the Dubai Autodrome & Business Park project (MEED 8:5:03).

The contracts involve the construction of a 5.4-kilometre grand prix circuit, a 1.2-kilometre indoor and outdoor go-karting track, an off-road driving course, landscaping and related works. The circuit is expected to be approved by the world motor sports governing bodies. Al-Futtaim/Carillion is also carrying out the enabling works under an estimated AED 10 million ($3 million) contract awarded earlier.

The scheme, which will also include the construction of a multi-purpose business park, will be located next to the Emirates Highway. The project will take about 12 months to complete.

The local/UK Al-Naboodah Laingis carrying out two packages, worth AED 100 million ($27 million), awarded in August (MEED 5:9:03). The contracts cover the construction of a main grandstand, with initial capacity of 5,000 spectators, and a marketing and management suite.

The local Thermo has also been awarded two contracts, worth a total of AED 35 million ($10 million), covering mechanical and electrical works for the grandstand, grand prix circuit, racing track and the marketing and management buildings.
