More Dubai airport work goes for bid

19 March 2004
At least six local and international contractors have been invited to submit bids by 12 April for the Dubai Air Wing facilities project on the Dubai International Airport expansion programme. The estimated $100 million package, known as AX 151, involves the construction of eight hangars with workshops, an administration building, a royal terminal with passenger bridges and a ground service equipment facility.

The successful contractor will also carry out external works and landscaping and will be responsible for structural and architectural finishes and mechanical and electrical works. The client, the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), is looking to implement the 300-day contract on a fast-track basis, with an award scheduled for the end of April. The consultant is Beirut-based Dar al-Handasah (Shair & Partners).
