More fibre to connect Jordan to Saudi Arabia

05 August 2009

Mada Communications Jordan has completed the installation and operation works of the fibre optic cable to connect Jordan to Saudi Arabia, via the Al-Omari eastern border gate. The new cable serves as a parallel line to the existing fibre-optic line which passes through Aqaba on the Red Sea to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, to ensure a continuous online connection. The line is connected to the Saudi Telecom network and reaches the international marine (undersea) cables at a 10GB per second speed, which secures a communication line for both telephone and internet services in the kingdom and links it to other neighbouring Arab countries as well.
