More OGD-3/AGD-2 work goes for bid

The three remaining engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts have been issued for bid on the third phase of the onshore gas development (OGD-3) and the second phase of the Asab gas development (AGD-2) programme. Bidding has been under way since early 2004 for the first two EPC packages on the estimated $2,500 million programme, which is under the overall responsibility of Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Company (Gasco- MEED 2:1:04).

The three new tenders to be issued cover:

Package 3, worth about $400 million, involves the construction of facilities for condensates and natural gas liquids (NGL) recovery and a NGL export pipeline at the onshore Asab field. Six companies are prequalified to submit technical bids in late August. They are Kellogg Brown & Rootand Bechtel, both US-based, Paris-based Technip, Chiyoda Corporationand JGC Corporation, both of Japan, and Italy's Snamprogetti. Gasco is handling the package (MEED 1:8:03);

Package 4, worth at least $500 million, covers the construction of a third NGL fractionation train and storage, jetty and berth facilities at Ruwais. The prequalifiers for the Gasco contract are the same as on package 3, as is the bid deadline;

Package 5, worth an estimated $70 million, calls for the construction of three condensate storage tanks, associated pipelines and a substation. Technical bids are due on 9 June from prospective bidders, which include the US' CB&I, Samsung Corporationand Daelim Industrial Company, both of South Korea, Larsen & Toubroand Punj Lloyd, both of India, and Europe's ABB Process. The client is Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer).

Technical bids were due to be submitted in early May for the two largest EPC packages in the programme. They are for the estimated $1,100 million package 2, which covers the construction of condensate and NGL recovery facilities at the onshore Habshan field and a 110-kilometre-long NGL export pipeline to Ruwais, and package 1, which involves the construction of facilities for gas-gathering and sour gas injection at Habshan. The client on package 2 is Gasco; on package 1 it is Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (Adco - MEED 6:2:04).
