More super high-rise towers planned for Reem Island

01 June 2008
Kuwait-based Dar al-Dhabi Real Estate Company has invited selected companies to prequalify for the main building works for two super high rise towers on Reem Island in Abu Dhabi emirate.

Located at the marina of Reem Properties’ Najmat Abu Dhabi development the project involves the construction of two 81-storey residential and commercial towers, two seven-storey residential and commercial buildings, together with basements and parking areas.

The total built-up area of the high-rise towers will be 480,000 square metres, and the total built-up area for the remainder of the project coming to about 135,000 square metres.

Tender documents are expected to be issued soon. Construction for the high-rise buildings is expected to begin in July 2009, and work on the low-rise buildings is expected to start one month later.

The project is scheduled for completion in late 2012.

The consultant is the local office of KEO International Consultants.

The project is the latest high-rise scheme to be tendered on Reem Island.

In April, the joint venture of the local Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises, South Africa's Murray & Roberts Contractors (Middle East) and Saudi-based Al-Rajhi Contracting submitted a price for the Tameer Towers project at the Shams Abu Dhabi development. It involves the construction of six towers including a 74-floor, 300-metre-tall office tower.

Also at Shams Abu Dhabi, the local/Lebanese Arabian Construction Company (ACC) started work last year on the 380-metre 83-storey Sky Tower project (MEED 17:4:08).
