More time for Basra and Daura refinery bidders

The bid deadlines for contracts to revamp and upgrade the Daura and Basra refineries have been extended in order to give contractors more time to study both schemes. Midland Refinery Company hasextended the bid closing date to 15 February for the upgrade of units at Daura, located south of Baghdad. The project covers the replacement of a reformer and diesel hydro-desulphurisation units. Each bidder has been asked to select technology from either UOPof the US or France's IFP(MEED 3:10:03).

The bid deadline has been extended to 31 January for the upgrade of the 140,000-b/d Basra refinery. The project entails the installation of a new isomerisation unit at the plant.

Prospective bidders for both schemes are understood to include Paris-based Technip; Foster Wheeler, Kellogg Brown & Rootand Parsons International, all of the US; Germany's Uhde, Italy's Snamprogetti, South Korea's SK Engineering & Construction; and Sharjah-based Petrofac International.
