An award is expected by the end of the year, with project completion to take 54 months. The estimated $350 million-400 million project will involve the construction of two dams in the Alborz mountains 90 kilometres north of Tehran and a power plant with four 250-MW turbines. The client is Iran Water & Power Development Company (IWPC), the Energy Ministry subsidiary responsible for hydroelectric projects, and the consultant is Moshanir Power Engineering Consultants.
The groups bidding for the power plant are led by: Italy's Franco Tosi, France's Alstom, Germany's Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation, Austria's VA Tech Hydro, the Energy Ministry affiliate Farab, the UK's Scott Wilson Kirkpatrickand the London office of the US' GE.
Prospective bidders for the civils package include Koolham, Pegah, Tablieh, BolandPayeh, Nimrokh, Bamrahand the Kayson Group, all local.
