More time for Zubair compressor bidders

05 December 2003
The Oil Ministry has extended the bid deadline to 15 January for the contract to supply and install compression facilities in the Zubair oil and gas field, located in the south.

The project calls for five compressors to boost gas from the field. Zubair, which has capacity to produce 200,000 barrels a day of oil, is one of Iraq's main gas producing fields. Contractors are also awaiting the release of tender documents for two further major field rehabilitation projects in the south.

Project sources say the programme for rebuilding Iraq's oil infrastructure is increasingly being handled by the ministry and the respective national oil companies (MEED 21:11:03).
