Morocco extends Jerada power plant deadline

29 October 2008
State-owned utility Office National de l’Electricite (ONE) has delayed the bid deadline for the project to expand the Jerada power plant to 14 November.

ONE says it has postponed the deadline after receiving requests for a delay from potential bidders.

Bids were originally due to be submitted on 17 October.

The successful bidder will build a 300MW coal-fired extension to the existing Jerada power plant.

The coal feedstock for the plant will be transported by rail from the port of Nador on the Mediterranean coast in the northeast of the country.

A new 225kV substation will also be built at the Jerada site (MEED 31:7:08).
