Mott rolls onto monorail

Local real estate developer Nakheel has appointed the UK's Mott MacDonald to provide engineering and site supervision services for the Palm Jumeirah monorail in Dubai.
Local real estate developer Nakheel has appointed the UK's Mott MacDonald to provide engineering and site supervision services for the Palm Jumeirah monorail in Dubai.

The agreement will see Mott review the detailed design of all civil, structural, mechanical and electrical (M&E) works. The monorail will be approximately 5.5 kilometres in length and will run from the mainland to the Atlantis resort on the crescent. A Japanese consortium of Hitachi Corporation, Marubeni Corporation, Mitsui & Company and Obayashi Corporation has the estimated AED 900 million ($245 million) construction contract (MEED 28:7:06).
