The Ministry of Public Works & Housing (MPWH) has invited companies to prequalify by 11 December for the consult-ancy contract on its estimated AED 500 million ($136 million) programme to build five hospitals across the federation.

The ministry is planning to prequalify at least five companies before issuing tenders for financial bids by mid-January. An award is due by early February. Tenders for the first construction package are expected by mid-2005.

The project calls for the construction of two general hospitals, a psychiatric hospital, a women and children’s hospital and a smaller community hospital to be built by 2009 (MEED 8:10:04).
