Mubarak’s sons to be tried at the same time on corruption charges

Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is set to go on trial on 3 August on charges of corruption and the murder of unarmed protesters in the popular uprisings that resulted in his eventual ousting in February.

According to Middle East News Agency, Abdel-Aziz Omar of Egypt’s Court of Appeals set the trial date. Mubarak’s two sons will also be tried at the same time on corruption charges.

Hosni Mubarak could face the death penalty if convicted. According to reports, at least 846 protesters were killed during the protests.
